by UrbanEscapee Duck painting finally hung in hallway. Check out the chairs! They are from my father's family, age unknown - likely early 1800s. Original paint happens to match quite nicely with the ducks! Got quite the lecture on never painting the chairs (duh!) or offering as a seat to anyone weighing more than 15 pounds. by UrbanEscapee My "new" office chair, salvaged from my father's side of the family — as were the pink slippers and needlepoint foot rest. Zebra rug also a "found item". It was discarded on W. 114th in NYC. (What's bad about that is we waited over a year before we professionally cleaned it!) Come to think of it... most of our furnishings are carefully selected used items...which is best if you ask me!

by UrbanEscapee I can't get over how much the barrel holds - and how quickly it fills. We've filled and emptied it twice! What they don't tell you about rain barrels, though, is that they can be a little stinky. We put a cork in the top when it's not raining to prevent mosquito larvae.
